LiveU Solo
and Solo PRO.

The LiveU Solo PRO is the bonded encoder you can actually price: a 912 g box that mounts on your camera or rides in a belt pack. Prices, plans, modems and an honest TVU One comparison, from LiveU's own pages and B&H, checked 22 October 2026.

LiveU Solo vs Solo PRO: what changed

LiveU's Solo page now covers only the Solo PRO, and on 22 October 2026 B&H listed the original LiveU Solo SDI/HDMI as no longer available. The Solo Plus was retired in 2023, per LiveU's help center. If you see an original Solo for sale, this is what separates them:

  • Picture: the original Solo can stream 1080p30 or 1080p60 through an advanced profile. LiveU calls the Solo PRO the first portable streaming encoder with 4K in its form factor; it streams 4K60 only from a 4K source, since it does not upscale.
  • Codec: the Solo PRO adds HEVC (H.265), but only to SRT destinations such as your own OBS or vMix. Social platforms get H.264 over RTMP, per LiveU's help center.
  • Bitrate: the original Solo targets up to 6 Mbps of video (8 Mbps on a beta 720p profile); the Solo PRO supports up to 20 Mbps.
  • Connections: the Solo PRO bonds up to 4 external modems plus Wi-Fi and Ethernet. LiveU says the original Solo cannot run 4 modems at once.
  • Power: the original Solo has an internal battery good for "2 hours or more" and a 12 V barrel input. The Solo PRO has 3 hours internal and charges over USB-C.

LiveU Solo PRO price: up front and every month

The unit. LiveU's own US online store sells spare parts for its pro units, not the Solo PRO. Its Solo PRO page lists "starting at" prices of $1,555 for the HDMI model and $2,255 for HDMI/SDI and points to resellers (B&H, VideoGuys and UnlimitedIRL in the US). B&H listed, on 22 October 2026:

  • Solo PRO HDMI: $1,795. With the Connect 2-modem kit: $2,245.
  • Solo PRO SDI/HDMI: $2,595. With the Connect 2-modem kit: $3,045.
  • Solo PRO Connect 2-modem kit: $450. PRO Connect Quattro 4-modem bundle (worldwide, with belt pack): $995.
  • LRT cloud bonding, 1 year: $450. LRT Connect yearly service for Solo Connect modems: $2,950 for 2 modems, $4,350 for 3 or 4.

The subscriptions, from LiveU's pages: LRT costs $45 a month or $450 a year per unit, with no data cap on the service itself. Solo Stream Tools (up to 3 destinations at once, a fallback slate, a logo, LRT included) costs $115 a month or $1,150 a year. LiveU lists the Connect kits at $450 (Duo) and $995 (Quattro); you then activate an unlimited data plan, LRT included, in the Solo portal. LiveU's help center gave US prices of $295 a month for 2 modems and $435 for 3 in an article last updated June 2023, so check the portal for today's rate.

Two first year budgets (arithmetic on B&H's prices): a Solo PRO HDMI plus a year of LRT on your own modems, $1,795 + $450 = $2,245 plus your carrier bills. A Solo PRO HDMI plus the Connect 2-modem kit and a year of 2-modem LRT Connect, $1,795 + $450 + $2,950 = $5,195, data included. Where this sits against cheaper setups is in our IRL streaming setup guide.

LiveU Solo portal, login and Solo Connect

The Solo portal lives at solo.liveu.tv. You create an account (New User), register the serial number from the back of the unit, then pick destinations, buy LRT and go live from there. LiveU recommends starting streams from the portal rather than the Play button on the unit, because some services only switch on that way. The help center at solohelp.liveu.tv uses a separate login.

How a Solo stream reaches Twitch or Kick: the unit bonds its connections and sends LRT to LiveU's cloud, which repackages it as RTMP for the platform. For Kick, LiveU's help center says to choose Generic RTMP and paste the Stream URL and key from Kick's creator dashboard. Without LRT the unit falls back to RTMP Direct over a single connection: no bonding.

Solo Connect, now sold as Solo PRO Connect, is LiveU's connectivity bundle: certified modems with SIMs, unlimited data and LRT in one subscription that starts and stops in one month steps. Regions: USA, Europe (the EU plus Norway, Switzerland and the UK), North America (Canada, USA and Mexico) and a Traveler plan covering over 100 countries. The USA Duo kit also works on the original Solo; the worldwide kits and all Quattro kits are Solo PRO only.

LiveU Solo compatible modems

The Solo PRO uses external USB modems only: the SIM slots under its side flap are inactive. It ships with cables for two modems; four need Y cables ($25 a pair at B&H) or a Quattro kit or belt pack, which include them. LiveU's help center lists modems tested on Solo firmware 7.0.4 and later and on the Solo PRO:

  • Huawei: any model with a "-320" suffix.
  • Inseego: USB800 and USB8, including the AT&T and Verizon versions.
  • Novatel: 630L and 720L.
  • ZTE: MF833V.
  • Alcatel: Linkkey.
  • Avoid: Netgear 340U and 341U.

For 5G, LiveU points to mobile hotspots connected by USB, Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with the Netgear Nighthawk 5G and Inseego M1000 and M2100 known to work.

Solo PRO backpack, belt pack and camera

Belt pack: LiveU's Solo Belt Pack ($195 at B&H) comes with two Y cables for extra modems, an HDMI pigtail cable and a tension clip, with room for modems and cables. It comes in the Quattro kit; LiveU's spec sheet also lists a cross shoulder pack.

Backpack: LiveU makes the encoder, not a full IRL backpack. Builders fit the Solo PRO, modems, batteries and a camera into a pack, and LiveU makes a Quattro kit without the belt pack for partners who build it into backpacks. What goes into a full build is in our IRL streaming backpack guide.

Power: 3 hours internal; for longer streams use a USB-C power bank that delivers more than 45 W at 12 to 20 V (LiveU's help center). It does not fast charge.

Camera: any camera with a clean HDMI output, or SDI on the SDI model, works. LiveU's checklist: no on screen menus on the output, 30 or 60 fps (many sites reject 24 fps), and audio always present, even silence, or the Solo stops encoding. Only one camera connects at a time. Picks by budget are in the best IRL streaming camera.

TVU One vs LiveU Solo PRO: which one?

The TVU One carries six 5G modems inside, bonds up to 12 links, and TVU quotes latency as low as 0.3 seconds. The Solo PRO weighs about half as much (912 g against 1.79 to 1.95 kg), uses your own USB modems and has a public price. LiveU gives no latency figure; its help center says LRT "does add some latency" in exchange for resilience.

  • Pick the Solo PRO for a known price, a camera mounted or belt pack setup, and when 4 modems are enough.
  • Pick a TVU One when the stream cannot drop in dense crowds and you can wait for a quote; details in our TVU One guide.
  • Pick neither yet if you are starting out: a phone with a bonding app such as TVU Go ($29 a month) or a BELABOX build costs far less to start.

If you stream from a vehicle, let someone else drive: Twitch's community guidelines ban dangerous or distracted driving, including using a phone while driving. When filming people in public or private places, follow local law and venue rules.

Where ReelShift fits for IRL streamers

ReelShift needs no gear in your belt pack: it watches the public stream on Twitch, Kick, YouTube or TikTok LIVE and follows what you say (stories, jokes, hot takes, big reactions) and the loud moments, so it works on IRL streams with no game on screen. Vertical clips with word synced captions arrive in your library within minutes, while you are still live. Say "clip that" to save the last 60 seconds, hands free. Plans start at $24.99 a month for 1 channel, with a 7 day free trial (1 channel, 5 streaming hours, card required, nothing charged today). See ReelShift for IRL streamers and how "clip that" works.
