HOW IT WORKS

Three steps to vertical.

01

Drop your clip

Any Twitch or Kick clip saved as an MP4. MOV and WebM work too, up to 10 minutes.

02

Pick a layout

Camera on top, a crop, or the whole frame. Drag the boxes and watch the 9:16 preview change.

03

Download

You get a 1080 × 1920 file with the original sound, ready for TikTok, Shorts and Reels.

Which layout to pick

A Twitch clip is 16:9, wide. TikTok, Shorts and Reels want 9:16, tall. Something has to give, and the right choice depends on what is on screen.

  • Camera on top suits most gaming streams with a facecam. Your face goes in the top part, the game fills the rest, and the slider sets how tall the camera part is. Drag the lime box over your camera and the white box over the part of the game that matters.
  • Crop suits Just Chatting, IRL and anything where you are the whole picture. You choose one tall window and slide it over the action.
  • Whole frame keeps everything, small, in the middle, over a soft blurred copy of the same clip. Use it when nothing can be cut off, like a full scoreboard or two people side by side.

Where to get the clip file

This tool works from a file on your computer, so download the clip first. On Twitch you can download clips of your own channel; the steps are in how to download Twitch clips. Kick has a Download button on clips that saves an MP4; see how to download Kick clips.

Twitch can also save a portrait version of new clips on its own, and channel owners can share clips straight to TikTok. That route and its limits are in how to make Twitch clips vertical. Use this tool when you want to choose the framing yourself, or when the clip comes from Kick.

The right size for TikTok, Shorts and Reels

Every file this tool makes is 1080 × 1920 pixels, 9:16, the standard size for all three. TikTok's own help pages ask for 720 × 1280 or higher, so 1080 × 1920 is comfortably above that. The frame rate and the sound stay as they were in your clip.

Length is up to you. For what tends to work on each app, read the best clip length for TikTok, Shorts and Reels, and when the clip is ready, Twitch clip to TikTok covers posting it.

Private, because nothing is uploaded

The whole job runs inside your browser, using its built-in video encoder. The clip is never sent to a server, which is also why the tool is free: there is nothing for us to pay for. It works best in a recent Chrome or Edge on a computer. A long clip on an older laptop can take a few minutes.

When you want this for every clip

Doing it by hand is fine for one great moment. Doing it after every stream is where streamers give up. ReelShift watches your stream on Twitch, Kick, YouTube or TikTok LIVE, picks the moments from what you say, loud moments and kills and wins on screen, and hands you vertical clips with word-synced captions while you are still live. Say "clip that" on stream to save the last 60 seconds yourself. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

FAQ

Quick answers.

Is this tool free?

Yes. No sign up, no watermark and no limit on how many clips you turn vertical.

Is my clip uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser does all the work on your own computer. The clip never leaves it, so it also works with clips you have not posted yet.

Does it work with Kick clips?

Yes. Download the clip from Kick as an MP4 and drop it in. Any MP4, MOV or WebM file works, up to 10 minutes long.

Does it keep the sound?

Yes. The original audio is copied into the new file as it is.

Can it add captions?

Not this tool. ReelShift adds word-synced captions automatically, and finds and cuts the moments for you while you are still live.
