Download
Twitch clips.

Twitch has a download option built in, but it doesn't cover every clip. Here is what Twitch officially lets you download, and what to do when it doesn't.

Short answer: go to Creator Dashboard, Content, Clips (the Clips Manager), choose Clips I've Created, open a clip and download the landscape or portrait version. Per Twitch's help center that covers clips you made, on any channel, and your Auto Clips. For other people's clips, Twitch's terms don't allow downloading except where Twitch offers it, so share the link or ask the streamer. Full streams download from Video Producer.

Download a clip you made

  1. Sign in on twitch.tv in a browser.
  2. Open Creator Dashboard (click your avatar, then Creator Dashboard).
  3. Go to Content, then Clips. This is the Clips Manager.
  4. Pick Clips I've Created at the top. Search by title or category if you have many.
  5. Open the clip and download the landscape or portrait version.

Do this from a computer. The Creator Dashboard is built for a browser, and the files are easier to handle there.

No portrait download? Twitch's help center says that means the portrait version hasn't been made yet. Choose Edit Clip, set the portrait layout, save, and the download appears.

Clips of your channel

If you stream, switch the Clips Manager to Clips of My Channel to see every clip viewers made of you. Twitch's help center lists what you can do with them: edit the title, trim, portrait layout and captions, share, feature, and delete.

Twitch also says your Auto Clips can be exported and downloaded like your other clips. For clips viewers made of your channel, Twitch's help pages don't spell out a download button, so open the clip in your Clips Manager and use the option there if it is offered.

Clips of other channels

Here the rule is simple. Twitch's Terms of Service don't allow downloading any part of the service except where Twitch expressly permits it. Twitch's download button covers clips you created. It doesn't offer downloads of other people's clips.

So the official options are:

  • Share the link. Every clip has one.
  • Post it with Twitch's Share button straight to YouTube, TikTok or Instagram, if the streamer allows it.
  • Ask the streamer. If you want to run a clip page for them, get permission in writing and ask them to send you files. See how to get permission to clip a streamer.

We don't recommend third party downloader sites. They are not part of Twitch, and posting someone else's stream without permission can get your account in trouble. More in how to avoid copyright strikes on clips.

Downloading a whole stream

To save a full past broadcast of your own channel, open Creator Dashboard, Content, Video Producer, click the three dots next to the video and choose Download.

Do it soon. Per Twitch's help center, past broadcasts are kept for 7 days for most streamers, 14 days for Affiliates, and 60 days for Partners, Prime and Turbo users.

Where ReelShift fits

Downloading is step one. The file is still one clip, and you still have to make it vertical and add captions before it works on TikTok or Shorts. ReelShift clips your Twitch stream while you are live and every clip is already downloadable, vertical and captioned. On Creator Plus you can also paste a VOD link or upload a file. See the Twitch clipper.
