Time: finding is the slow part

Editing one clip is not what eats your week. Finding the moments is. A 4-hour stream takes 4 hours to watch at normal speed and 2 at double speed, before you have cut anything. Then a simple vertical clip with captions often takes 10 to 20 minutes in an editor like CapCut.

Quality and control

Manual editing gives you full control: the exact first frame, the zoom on a reaction, the caption style, the title. AI gets the basics right most of the time, but it can start a clip late, run past the payoff, or miss a joke that needs context. Captions are fast but can get names and slang wrong.

AI has one quality edge people forget: it does not get tired. At hour five of a VOD, a person starts skipping. AI checks the whole thing the same way.

When to use which

• Use AI when you stream often, post daily, clip several channels, or want clips up while the moment is still fresh.
• Edit by hand for your best clip of the week, story clips that need setup, montages, and anything a sponsor will see.
• Use both for everything else.

The hybrid workflow: AI finds, you polish

1. Let AI catch the moments during or after the stream.
2. Mark the ones only you know. Say "clip that" on stream if your tool supports it.
3. Review the list. Delete the misses without guilt.
4. Fix captions, especially names and game terms.
5. Trim the start so the clip opens on the hook, not the build-up.
6. Write a title that makes someone stop scrolling.
7. Post, then check which clips held attention, and look for more like them.
