How to clip a
TikTok LIVE.

Can you clip a TikTok LIVE as a viewer?

No. TikTok gives viewers no clip button on a LIVE, and its support pages describe no viewer clip feature. If you are watching someone else's LIVE, you have three options:

1. Screen record it on your phone. On iPhone, open Control Center and tap Screen Recording. On Android, swipe down to Quick Settings and tap Screen record. Trim the recording afterwards.
2. Ask the host. Hosts can clip their own replay for 30 days after the LIVE (Route 1 below), so the moment you saw can still be saved properly.
3. Share the LIVE. The Share button sends people to the LIVE itself while it is on. It does not save a clip.

One rule before you post anything: a screen recording of someone else's LIVE is their content. Only repost it if they allow it, for example through their own clipping program. Otherwise it can be taken down.

Route 1: the host clips the LIVE replay

TikTok saves a recording of your LIVE automatically. Per TikTok's support page, replays are available to view and download for 30 days. To get to them:

1. Open your Profile, tap the menu, then TikTok Studio.
2. Tap LIVE, then LIVE recordings. On desktop you can also use LIVE Center.
3. Pick a replay. You get three actions: Download the whole recording, Clip a segment and post it, or Delete.

The Clip option is the simplest native route: trim, tap Next, follow the posting steps. The catches are timing and effort. You are doing it after the LIVE, one clip at a time, scrubbing a recording that may run for hours. Captions and framing are whatever you add in the editor.

Route 2: how to clip on TikTok LIVE Studio

If you stream from a computer with TikTok LIVE Studio, it can save highlights while you are live. According to TikTok's LIVE Studio help:

1. Automatic highlights. LIVE Studio creates them on its own from viewer interactions, comments and gifts. They usually run 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
2. Your own highlights. When something happens, press the Highlight button or Ctrl+1. It captures the previous 2 minutes.
3. After the LIVE. An end-of-stream pop-up lists the highlights. Edit, download, clip or post them from there, or later from LIVE Center.

This is the closest thing TikTok has to real-time clipping, and it is worth using if you stream from LIVE Studio. It is PC only, the highlights are reviewed after the LIVE, and captions and vertical framing are still on you.

Route 3: automatic clips while the LIVE is on
