Twitch from your phone

Open the Twitch app, tap the + in the bottom bar and choose Stream. You can stream IRL with your camera or stream a mobile game. Twitch's help recommends streaming on Wi-Fi for the best performance and to avoid data charges. For long IRL streams, Twitch also points to third party apps like Streamlabs Mobile, PRISM Live Studio, IRL Pro (Android) or Moblin (iOS).

Kick from your phone

Kick's own app for creators is KICK Go Live. It works for any Kick account and supports the front and back camera, screen sharing and IRL streaming. Kick says to set your title and category in your Streamer Dashboard before you go live, because mobile apps cannot set them. Third party apps like Streamlabs Mobile also work with your Kick stream key.

TikTok LIVE from your phone

Tap +, swipe to LIVE, add a title and tap Go LIVE. You must be 18 or older (19 in South Korea). TikTok's support pages mention 1,000 followers for LIVE and say requirements may vary by region. If you don't see the LIVE option, you are not eligible yet. Details in how to go LIVE on TikTok.

YouTube from your phone

Open the YouTube app, tap Create, then Live, add your details and tap Go live. YouTube requires at least 50 subscribers for mobile, a verified channel, and no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. The first time can take up to 24 hours to enable. Under 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit your viewer count. More in how to stream on YouTube.

Tips that keep a phone stream alive

• Wi-Fi first. Kick's help calls stable Wi-Fi best, says 4G LTE or 5G usually works, and does not recommend 3G. Streaming uses several GB of data per hour, depending on bitrate.
• Battery. Kick suggests a power bank for any IRL stream over 30 minutes, and warns that charging while streaming adds heat that can slow your phone down.
• Heat. Keep the phone out of direct sun. If it gets hot, lower the stream quality.
• Mic. The phone mic picks up wind and traffic. A small clip-on mic makes your voice the loudest thing in the stream.
• Do Not Disturb. Turn it on so calls and notifications do not interrupt you.

Clips while you are out
