Clip in the Twitch app

Get the Twitch app from the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (Android). The steps are the same on both, per Twitch's help center.

1. Open the live stream or past broadcast you want to clip.
2. Tap the video. On mobile the controls hide, and Twitch says you may need to tap the video for the clip icon to appear.
3. Tap the clip icon. The clip creator opens as an overlay, so the stream keeps playing.
4. Set the length with the slider under the video. The max is 60 seconds.
5. Add a title and publish.

Be quick on live streams. The clip creator works from what just played, so clip right after the moment happens.

What you can do after

Once the clip is published, per Twitch's help center:

• Share the link with the Share button, in chat, a group chat or anywhere else.
• Post it directly to TikTok, YouTube or Instagram from the Share button. When you post to TikTok or Instagram, Twitch adds the channel name as a hashtag and fills in a suggested title and description. You can type over them. YouTube posts don't get the automatic hashtag.
• Get a tall version for free. Twitch makes a portrait version of every clip automatically, which is the shape TikTok, Shorts and Reels want.

If you don't see the direct posting options in the app, open the clip on twitch.tv in a browser, or share the link instead. Streamers also choose whether viewers may post their clips this way.

The limits

• 60 seconds max per clip.
• The streamer decides who can clip. In Twitch's Clips Settings they can turn clips off, allow only subscribers, or allow only followers who have followed for a set time (from 10 minutes up to 3 months).
• You need to be signed in.
• Posting someone else's clip: the stream belongs to the streamer. Ask before you post their clips on your own accounts. See how to get permission to clip a streamer.

Finding your clips later

Your clips are kept in the Clips Manager: Creator Dashboard, Content, Clips. Switch to Clips I've Created to see everything you clipped, on any channel. From there you can edit titles, share, download the clips you made, or delete them for good. The dashboard is easiest to use on twitch.tv in a browser.
