Instagram Reels.

The quick way: share from Twitch

Per Twitch's help center:

• If the streamer turns it on in Clips Settings, viewers can post clips from that channel directly to their Instagram account from the Share button, anywhere the clip can be viewed.
• Twitch automatically adds the channel name as a hashtag on Instagram posts.
• Twitch makes a portrait version of clips automatically, and you can adjust the portrait layout with Edit Clip.

The manual way: download and edit

1. Download the clip. You can download landscape or portrait versions of clips from your own channel, and portrait versions of clips you made, per Twitch. See how to download Twitch clips.
2. Go vertical. Use the portrait file, or put the landscape one on a 9:16 canvas with your cam on top and the game below.
3. Add captions and a short hook in the first seconds.
4. Export at 1080p if you can, at least 720p and 30fps.
5. Post it as a Reel, with what happened and where to watch live in the caption.

Instagram's Reels rules

• Shape: from 1.91:1 to 9:16. Use 9:16 to fill the screen.
• Quality: at least 720p and 30 frames per second.
• Length: up to 20 minutes, but reels must be 3 minutes or less to be recommended to new audiences. Twitch clips are up to 60 seconds, so they always fit.

Instagram's original content rules

This matters most if you post other streamers' clips. Instagram's Original Content Guidelines say content copied from another account, or reposted without material edits, is unoriginal. Minor edits like adding a border, a watermark, a speed change or just a credit don't count. Accounts that mostly post unoriginal reels become less eligible to be recommended to new people, though their followers still see them. Instagram says making most of your recent posts original over a rolling 30 days brings that back.

Posting it well

• Hook first. Start at the moment, not the setup, and put one short line of text on screen. Instagram's own Reels tips suggest a reveal, a punchline or a twist.
• Caption with credit. Say what happened, whose stream it is and where to watch live. If you post by hand, add the channel hashtag yourself.
• Test with non-followers. Instagram's trial reels let you show a reel to people who don't follow you first, then decide whether to share it with your followers.
• Schedule the rest. Instagram lets public accounts schedule up to 25 posts a day, up to 30 days ahead. See how to schedule clips.
