How to make money
on TikTok LIVE.

On TikTok LIVE most of the money comes from Gifts, which turn into Diamonds you can cash out. Here is how that works, what else pays, and how your LIVE can keep earning after it ends.

Short answer: you must be 18 or older (19 in South Korea) to go LIVE and receive Gifts. Viewers send Gifts, TikTok turns them into Diamonds, and you withdraw Diamonds as US dollars to a verified PayPal or other payout account. Bigger creators can add Subscription for monthly support. Then post clips of your LIVE: videos of 1 minute or longer can earn through the Creator Rewards Program.

Who can earn on LIVE

Per TikTok's support pages, to turn on LIVE Gifts you must:

  • be 18 or older (19 in South Korea)
  • live somewhere LIVE Gifts is available
  • have an account in good standing with the Community Guidelines

TikTok's pages also mention needing 1,000 followers to go LIVE, and say this may vary by region. If you do not see the LIVE option yet, that is usually why.

Gifts to Diamonds to money

Viewers send you Gifts during your LIVE. TikTok's Virtual Items Policy explains what happens next:

  • Gifts become Diamonds. TikTok sets the conversion rate and can change it at any time. It does not publish a fixed rate in the policy.
  • TikTok calls Diamonds a measure of how popular your content is.
  • You can withdraw Diamonds for US dollars to a verified PayPal or another supported payout account.
  • There are daily withdrawal limits, and TikTok does not guarantee how fast a withdrawal is paid.
  • Taxes, and any PayPal currency fees, are on you.

Be careful with exact Diamond to dollar numbers you see online. They come from creators, not from TikTok.

Other ways LIVE pays

  • Subscription. Viewers pay monthly for perks like badges, sub only chats and exclusive LIVEs, across up to three tiers. When TikTok expanded it in September 2024, it required creators to be 18+, in good standing, and to have 10,000 followers plus 100,000 video views in the past calendar month, or to meet LIVE eligibility rules. It is only in some regions.
  • LIVE Match. Two creators go head to head for 5 minutes and see who collects more likes and Gifts. Solo or in teams.
  • LIVE Goals and Gift Vote. Show viewers a Gift target, or let them vote on your questions by sending Gifts.
  • LIVE rewards. TikTok's Creator Academy says rewards are based on the Diamonds you collect plus a rewards percentage you raise by finishing LIVE Rewards Missions. Check your LIVE Center for what applies in your region.

Careful with LIVE agencies

You will get messages from LIVE agencies, also called Creator Networks, offering to grow your LIVE for a share of your earnings. TikTok says these are independent businesses that it does not endorse. Before you sign anything, read who gets paid what, for how long, and how you can leave. Never pay money to join.

Let your LIVE keep earning

A LIVE ends, but clips of it keep getting views. TikTok keeps your LIVE replays for 30 days: open TikTok Studio, LIVE, LIVE recordings, where you can download or clip them.

Those clips can earn through the Creator Rewards Program if you qualify. Per TikTok:

  • 18 or older, with 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
  • a personal account (business accounts are not eligible)
  • videos at least 1 minute long and original, not Duets or Stitches
  • a video starts earning after 1,000 qualified For You views
  • you are paid on the 15th once you have at least $10

So cut LIVE moments that run past a minute: a full story, a whole round, a long reaction. More in how to watch a TikTok LIVE replay.

Where ReelShift fits

Going back through a replay for clips takes hours. ReelShift clips your TikTok LIVE while you are still live, vertical and captioned, so the moments are ready to post before the stream ends. Say "clip that" to save the last 60 seconds yourself. See the TikTok LIVE clipper.
