Short answer: use your device's built-in recorder. iPhone: swipe down from the top right, tap the Record button (touch and hold it first to turn the mic on). Android: swipe down twice and tap Screen record. Windows: press Windows+Alt+R (Xbox Game Bar) or Windows+Shift+R (Snipping Tool). Mac: press Shift+Command+5. Recording for yourself is fine; only repost it with the host's permission.
Apple notes that some apps may not allow recording, and you cannot record while screen mirroring.
Menus differ a little by phone brand. On Pixel phones, some steps need Android 11 or newer.
Recording a LIVE for yourself is one thing. Posting it is another. TikTok's copyright policy says content that infringes someone's copyright may be removed, and you are responsible for what you post. TikTok's For You feed rules also say content uploaded without new or creative edits, like a video with someone else's watermark, is not eligible for the For You feed. Get the host's permission first. If you want to earn from clips, see how clipping campaigns work.
Does TikTok tell the host you are recording? TikTok's help pages do not say it does.
Replays and highlights both arrive after the fact. ReelShift works during the LIVE: it watches your TikTok LIVE, whether you go live from your phone or LIVE Studio, and cuts the best moments into vertical clips with captions while you are still on. Say "clip that" to save the last 60 seconds yourself. See the TikTok LIVE clipper.
